Organizing a review conference for the trachoma control program across 7 project provinces following the 2002–2004 implementation phase, funded by the International Trachoma Initiative.
Project Overview
- Field: Communicable Disease Prevention
- Duration: 08 – 09/2005
- Funder/client: International Trachoma Initiative (ITI)
- Implementing agency: Center for Environmental and Health Studies (CEHS)
- Location: 7 project provinces in Vietnam; review conference held in Hà Nội
Introduction
The project organized a review conference for the trachoma control program across 7 project provinces following the 2002–2004 implementation phase. During this period, Vietnam and its partners intensified implementation of the SAFE strategy — surgery, antibiotics, facial cleanliness and environmental improvement — to control trachoma in areas where the disease remained endemic.
The review conference served to assess implementation results, share experience across provinces, consolidate lessons learned from the project phase, and provide a basis for shaping subsequent trachoma control activities in Vietnam.
CEHS's Role
CEHS directly organized the review conference with technical involvement from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trịnh Hữu Vách and MSc. Nguyễn Như Toàn. CEHS was responsible for producing and printing the review materials, preparing conference content, coordinating the event in Hà Nội, and developing the post-conference results report.
