Project description: Rapid assessment and analysis of the current status of maternal mortality and neonatal mortality in the project area. From there, develop a plan to consult and communicate on safe motherhood and newborn care to raise people's awareness in maternal and child health care in order to reduce complications and reduce maternal and infant mortality.
Summary of specific work performed by the contractor under the contract:
  • Rapid assessment and analysis of maternal and neonatal mortality in 14 northern mountainous and Central Highlands provinces. Select provinces with high maternal and neonatal mortality rates to develop intervention plans.
  • Develop a booklet summarizing some key research findings on maternal mortality in the period 2007-2008 in the 7 provinces with the highest maternal mortality rates.
  • Write a number of articles to disseminate research results on maternal mortality, safe motherhood and neonatal care, and publish these articles in medical journals or scientific journals.
  • Write a draft plan of intervention counseling to reduce maternal mortality in 7 provinces with high maternal mortality rates.
