Detailed Narrative Description of the Project:  The construction and planned operation of Nghi Son Petrochemical and Refinery LLC (NSRP) at Tinh Gia (Thanh Hoa) has since 2013 resulted in dramatic changes in sources of income, residences, and social support networks of thousands of households living in communes surrounding the factory. In order to support the affected households and conform to lender requirements (Performance Standard 5 of International Finance Cooperation), NSRP has implemented a number of livelihood restoration projects that aim to help affected households at least restore the level of livelihood outcomes they had prior to the NSRP project by the first quarter of 2018. The projects are guided by an adapted version of DFID Sustainable Livelihood Framework. According to this framework, a livelihood is seen as a combination of livelihood assets and livelihood strategies.
The survey will help NSRP to: 1) Use the results to develop a plan to support the livelihoods of 2017; 2) Build social investment strategy program of 2017; and 3) Measure mid-term for the studies/assessment in the future.
