Detailed Description of the Project: United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) submitted a proposal for a WASH emergency response project to the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), which was approved on November 28th, 2017. The approved fund focused on addressing water, sanitation and hygiene issues for 100,000 people, including 40,000 school children in 30 communes of 15 Districts of three provinces of Thua Thien Hue, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen. The purpose of the assignment is to consolidate key lessons learned from the response to the typhoon and flood in vulnerable locals in Viet Nam funded by CERF and synthesize learning in a document to inform the future strategic direction on risk-informed natural disaster preparedness, response and child-centered disaster risk reduction in Viet Nam.
Summary of specific work performed by the contractor under the contract:
  • Monitor, report progress and quality of on-going activities; Identify, analyze lessons learned, failures and successes and submit UNICEF progress reports, mid-term reports and final reports.
  • Assess overall response to effectiveness and appropriateness regarding key project objectives, including addressing the needs of women and children in a timely and meaningful way.
