On November 16, the Center for Environmental and Health Studies and the Center for Disease Control of Lam Dong Province collaborated with the District Health Centers of Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Di Linh and Cat Tien districts in implementing the sub-project of the Global Fund for Tuberculosis Control in 2021, organizing proactive TB screening and detection in these 4 districts
The medical team to screen for TB and latent TB in the community includes the Provincial Center for Disease Control with 6 doctors and TB testing technicians; Each district's health center has 6 medical doctors, specialized in TB programs, and testing technicians; each commune and township health station appoints 6 doctors and nurses to participate in screening services; Village health collaborators with 1-2 people directly involved in building a list of people suspected of having TB, serving TB screening and direct communication in villages, hamlets and residential clusters. Subjects for screening for tuberculosis and latent TB include: People who have a cough lasting more than 2 weeks, people who are in close contact with sources of TB transmission, people with old TB disease (patients with TB in 2019 - 2020), people with TB symptoms and people at high risk of TB (HIV-infected people, people in direct contact with drug-resistant TB patients, diabetics, people with persistent cough and sputum symptoms…). The delegation organized 39 examination and X-ray locations in 4 districts of Duc Trong, Lam Ha, Di Linh, Cat Tien, planned to interview 4,000 people to screen for tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis and perform GeneXpert test to diagnose tuberculosis for 800 people in the community in 39 communes of the 4 districts mentioned above. The goal is to strengthen the detection of TB patients with an expected increase in the number of patients detected by 20% over the same period in each district through screening.
